Question / Help Low quality and Recording Lag

PC specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 2700x
NVIDIA GTX 960
8GB RAM

I'm trying to record Rainbow Six with good quality, i usually get around 100fps in-game, but when I either try to set resolution to 1920x1080, or bump up from ultrafast to fast in encoding settings, I start getting lots of in-game lag. I have OBS priority as high under advanced settings. I'm using my CPU as the encoder.

Anyone know whats going on?
Thanks.

No clue without proper log file.
Maybe the high prio on OBS and high CPU load of OBS is causing the game to run into a CPU bottleneck, maybe it's just GPU overload due to uncapped ingame fps.

Are you setting CPU affinity here, or do you need to fix your bios?

By affinity, I was only changing the usage under advanced. When its on High CPU, i get terrible in game frames with good record/stream quality. But when its on normal, the stream/recording freezes.

I dont know much about anything in my bios so maybe thats the issue? dont really know how to go about it though.

Make sure your bios is up to date. Ryzen chips absolutely need an up-to-date bios for full compatibility. OBS is reporting that it's only seeing 2 cores of your CPU, when it should be seeing 8.

I didn't even install drivers for my mobo or chipset when I got my new cpu and mobo... so I did those and that fixed the problem greatly (720p 5000bitrate fast preset - no performance hindrance, no freezing). My bios is from September, should I update to this month's?

BIOS only if you are having issues overclocking RAM or some feature doesn't currently work. Most x470 boards had a critical one you needed to do when they were released, September should be fine
