Low fps when OBS not active window

Greetings all. I use OBS to recors my flights in X plane 11 and Microsoft flight sim. I have noticed that my videos are choppy and the fps display drops significantly if OBS is not the active window.

As soon as a click back onto it then its back at a constant fps and smooth.

So far based on google searches into this issue I have tried increasing the process prority of OBS and also disabling the widows game bar. Neither have resolved the issue.

I record using windowed mode as the simulator is in windowed mode.

I also downscale the output to 1080p.
Im using CBR and 5000bits for the recording as well.

Is there anything specific i can look at or change that will resolve this issue?

Post a log, it gives important info like system specs and a little bit more insight into settings. Especially with flight simulator, you would need a lot of horsepower to run it and stream it. Especially at 1080. Especially if you're using a software encoder and not a hardware encoder.
