Low FPS using DSLR mini hdmi-Game capture 60PRO!

Help! i'm struggling so much;

Just took the switch into DSLR life, and plugged a nikon D3400 into my elgato HD60Pro(PCiE) and its locked at 1080p30, and its so gross looking. The camera itself can record at 60FPS, so that shouldn't be an issue; am i missing something? Do i need to get a mini HDMI-HDMI convertor, and THEN plug that in to the HD60 pro? Any help would be great!!

FYSA, i am trying to use elgato HD60 pro as a video capture device on OBS for webcam, nothing else

Probably D3400 send via Hdmi max 1080p30, i have D5300 and maximum value is 1080i60, D750 send 1080p60.

So do you think its be better to just run 720p @ 60 instead???

720p is ~1 Mpx of picture, 1080p is ~2Mpx of picture.
Your choice, what you need, more fps or more pixels.
