Question / Help Low Fps in obs not in games

since the last windows update OBS has been having fps and encoding issues with settings that used to work for me... for example any FPS game seems to give obs issues (even before clicking start stream IE running obs on the side without streaming and watching the fps tank on obs) the games themselves get 200-80fps in game depending on game but obs which is now set at 30fps drops to as low as 1fps while the game never drops it also seems if i switch to cpu encoding and change the usage preset to fast or medium the cpu usage never changes and stays sub 10-20%

i stopped using obs for now until they fix it xsplit, gameshow and relive have no issues with this

Ok thanks. Unfortunate but about what I expected. I used to really like OBS, but I stopped using it for recording almost a year ago because of issues like this. Came back this week to try streaming and I guess things haven't gotten any better...

Bump....
here some logs from the past few attempts seems like the only game it likes is WoW which it will stream perfectly at 60fps everything else drops to 1frame-25 before even hitting start stream

wow works fine skip to the end when i try to switch to overwatch or another game...
So many log files, but none with an actual recording or stream.
Nothing to see in there.

So turns out in my case all it took was disabling Aero for it to work fine (so far anyways)... Really stupid but maybe it'll work for you too? :)

Neither of the logs you posted on post #8 show any recording/streaming attempts @b1n4ry

Please do a recording session for about 30 seconds, stop recording and upload the current log.

both of those are posts are streams.... so i dont know what more to do you must be daft to not see the stream started and device removed in all of the logs and the ones with cpu render as shown just crash so yea there may be no close in the logs because if the app crashed how can it write logs... im not some moron i can read the logs too and those all are from streams...

Try limiting the fps in the game by using vsync or an fps limiter to make sure the game does not use all of the GPU, leaving nothing for OBS
