Question / Help Low CPU Usage, High encoding problems and freezing

Hey all,

I'm having problems with OBS again (I say again, I've never gotten it working in 2 years). On my old laptop, OBS was using somewhere in the region of 30 - 40% of my CPU, and with Minecraft on top practically used all 100%. I bought a new gaming computer, which has fantastic specs as you'll see in the console log included.

Basically, OBS now is using something like 20% of my CPU which is fine. The issue I'm having is that I'm getting the High Encoding error in the bottom left, the screen is freezing as I walk around (Minecraft) and I don't understand why. My settings should work great shouldn't they?

Also, this is what recordings are like: http://sendvid.com/zvuxys8b

That log was not under load or capturing any game. Please provide a logfile from when you recorded and actually played for 5 minutes or more

Should be correct this time
Looks like encoder lag which means that your CPU is thermal throttling. check temps, clean and reapply thermal paste, ensure mounting of heatsync, make sure clear plastic protective cover has been removed from heatsync.

Wait... It comes in a plastic protective cover?

Okay, so problem. Apparently my CPU is running at 99 degrees Celsius.

Anything above 80 is too hot apparently.

Oh...

There's isn't a plastic sheet there...
What headsync is it? was it snapped down properly? when you remove it, you need to reapply the paste so there is no air bubbles in between the CPU and the heatsync. either way. clean with rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs.

Decided to message the guys who built it. Sure, I can code and use a PC well but when it comes to getting my hands in there and messing with the hardware, I'm not suited to that. It's on a 3 year warranty so if push comes to shove, they'll be able to solve it for me.

Using realtemp there, the usual temperature of the PC is about 75/76 which is still high. The second you boot up Skyfactory 2, that thing shoots up to the mid 90's.
