Losing exponential disk space when recording.

So I have OBS settings that make relatively small file sizes, usually coming out about 500mb for 1 hr of 720p. For some reason, only on one computer when I record with OBS I lose like 4-5 times the space on the HDD than the actual size of the video. Many times I am able to defrag and get the space back but, it is really weird and annoying. It prevents me from finishing recording a video that I have more than enough disk space for but, my disk space just disappears. For example, currently recording on computer in question, video output so far is 800mb but, my disk space has decreased by 5 gbs. I have searched all over the web trying to rephrase my problem but, all I get is people complaining about not having enough disk space. On my other computers, it shows the correct disk space as the videos are being recorded. Makes no sense why a gb of video would decrease my HDD space by 5gb. To clarify, I DO NOT have the error where it shows 0 space and changing the folder fixes it. My problem is losing more HDD space than the video is being taken up. I have scanned for viruses, I have attempted multiple videos after trying fixes and the HDD still loses more space than the video is using for seemingly no reason. Only happens when recording.

You can try to analyze what thing is writing as well while OBS is recording.

Open the Windows start menu, search for the app "Resource monitor" and start it. If you're unable to find it, open Windows task manager, go to the second tab "Performance" and look at the bottom: there is a link to start Resource Monitor.

In the resource monitor app, go to the tab "Disk". Here you have 2 lists, the top list contains processes and how much they read and write from and to disk. The second list are files that are currently being read or written to. Click on the two tab headers "Total" to sort both lists, so the processes and files are on top with the highest disk activity.

Now start recording with OBS. Verify the free disk space is really shrinking faster than just writing to the video.

While still recording, switch back to Resource Manager. Look which processes are writing and which files are being written to most. One of the processes should be obs64.exe and one file should be the video file OBS is recording to. If there is anything else with big disk activity as big or bigger than OBS itself, you might have found the culprit.
