Question / Help Lose capture when switching monitor off

I used to be able to capture a display window and switch the monitor off to save power etc. But now if I switch the monitor off after starting recording, when I later switch it back on all I see is a black capture. It records OK up to the point when I switch monitor off then it is lost.
Only thing I have changed recently is I have updated my video card to a NVIDEA GTX 1060 6GB.
I have disabled 'use graphics accelerator in Chrome but all this changes is the capture will come back after I switch monitor back on, leaving black screen where it had been switched off. I usually use Firefox but this won't even come back on after switching monitor back on again. Any suggestions please? Log file attached.
Thanks.

It's possible that Windows or the graphics driver detects it when you switch off the monitor and disables rendering on that monitor for power saving. So OBS isn't able to record anything that's on that monitor. It's the same with apps that are minimized - they are not rendering as well while minimized.

Thanks. I am sure I read on one of these forum topics that the monitor does not need to be on as OBS takes the capture from what is supposed to be displayed if a monitor was present. And as I mentioned, it was OK like this before I changed my video card. Puzzling... :-)

Still not solved this problem. On my other PC running W10 with EXACTLY the same settings in OBS it works perfectly, even after switching monitor off while recording. But on this W8.1 PC it disappears after switch off. Also on this machine the resultant recording is tiny when played back in VLC or my streamer. Just can't understand/solve it.

From OBS version higher than 24.0.3.0 I face the similar problem. With any new version I am hoping that capturing would work, but not. When I switch off the monitor video is not captured, howerver, sound is captured. So I am always forced to downgrade, to v. 24.0.3., which works perfectly when monitor is off.

Do you still use the same output? (HDMI for example)

Could be that different types of output work different with outputting video. ‍♂️

Note that @koala already answered with the most likely cause
It's possible that Windows or the graphics driver detects it when you switch off the monitor and disables rendering on that monitor for power saving.
And realize that unrelated to OBS, Windows OS and video card drivers including updates can have an impact.
Without knowing specifically, I'd look for Video drivers settings related to CEC control, or Windows Power Savings/Display settings?

As koala noted, OBS can't capture was isn't being truly generated (thinking it is/should be doesn't count ;^)
