Iv been trying for a long time to get my stream for dayz to look better.

Right now my settings are.
Quality Balance:10
Bit rate:2700
Base Resolution: 1280x720(720P)
X264 CPU Preset: Faster(only uses about 10 more cpu time then Very Fast)
Custom settings: threads=12 (I have an amd FX 8350 8 core)

Now if there are other settings I should mess with or look into please share. Heres a video from my stream so you can see what I mean.

If theres anything I can do to make it look sharper without "lol get moar internet" that would help. Thanks

Use CBR and remove your custom settings. For further quality you'll likely need more bitrate, there's only so much you can do for high motion games.

From what I understand, If you use more of the threads, you actually lose quality in the encoding being split throughout all threads. At least that's what I've read on x264.

If anything else, there are a few more Custom Settings that will help with quality by squeezing out more CPU power if you have room for it but which ones in particular is really determined by researching.

In general though, having a higher Bitrate is the only real solution to absolute quality. Are you using CBR?

That only applies when you're talking like 60+ threads. For consumer CPUs it's a non-issue unless you're streaming at 360p or other really low resolutions.

:o Probably, i was under the impression that it's a quality hit and you'll only really start to notice it until you hit 16 and beyond xD. None the less, Bitrate is still the best solution.

Thanks both of you for the information. I was under the impression that CBR was a waste of bandwidth and the extra threads might help. Anyeay Ill be streaming tonight so when Im done Ill watch the video back and see if that helped any. Thanks again =)

CBR is indeed a waste of bandwidth but if bandwidth isn't an issue for you i'd definitely use it. I personally think it yields just as much quality and overall is better for quality but sometimes it can't be helped. With it off, the default function only uses the bandwidth needed for certain scenes and situation but it can get quite spikey and unstable too.

It's preference but good luck!
