Question / Help Logitech C525 Not Working with OBS

Hello,

I cannot get my webcam to work for some reason, it is a logitech C525, and when I add a video capture device, OBS studio will only detect when I first plug it in; once I try to start streaming, the camera will not be activated, no 'record' light will come on the physical camera, and nothing comes up on the screen. At that point I will go back to the video capture properties, and see that it says XSplitBroadcaster, the default device when nothing shows up, so my camera disappears. To confirm my camera is actually working, I will bring up the logitech software to do a quick video, and walla my camera works just fine.

Here are the things I have done to try and fix it:

- update OBS
-Eventually removed old OBS and installed newest OBS Studio
-deleted drivers and software of camera, reinstalled, restarted computer, still didn't work
-tried running OBS in both x32 and x64
-tried messing with the resolution, changing the camera res to 320x240, still nothing.

Any ideas as to what is going on? I have googled many different variations of my issue and nothing like this comes up and I am not sure what to do. I will add pictures down below.

It looks like some other software is overriding your camera. Basically, it's using your camera rather than OBS Studio so it won't work on OBS Studio if it's in use. Do you have Skype installed or any other programs that use your webcam other than Logitech's software?

I do have skype, i do have logitech software, but I even tried deleting the software and just using the drivers and that didnt work. I didnt try removing skype though.

the thing is, the camera is not active (no recording light) with any program when i try to use it for obs. unless its doing it in the background and the camera isnt actually being used....if that makes sense.

I removed Xsplit Broadcaster, and the only other program that could use my webcam is discord and Skype but neither program are launched. When I start up OBS for the first time, the camera light turns on then off immediately, so it's almost like something in OBS is shutting it down.

.....

edit: when I close OBS and reopen it, it will show the video capture device as blank in properties. Not sure what to do....Skype is running in the background after all, even when it doesnt launch, but that still shouldnt stop it from working...

confirmed that discord, skype and other camera software works with camera. removed other streaming software, still does not work though. Why would discord work but not obs?

I removed skype, tried a new streaming program bebo, and it is not working with bebo either.

Next step i tried is downloading windows process explorer to see if any other program is using my camera, and no other program shows actively using my camera before i attempt to turn the camera on.

really not sure at this point, i have contacted logitech too. any help????

There is no OBS in Windows privacy settings.

Still in basic OBS evertyhing works fine but in studio it doesn't

I've tried "magics" like settings the resolution to 320x240 but ofc it doesn't work

that is how it looks

Either turn off bitdefender's webcam protection, add obs as an exception in it, or uninstall bitdefender completely

It's a lot easier for us to be sure that another program is a problem when that program is the reason we have a factoid for the problem on our factoid bots in our live chats.

In this case, BitDefender is the program for antivirus software blocking webcams.
