Local screen recording grinding to a halt after a few seconds. Help.

I am not trying to record streams just locally screen capture to my PC and I can't get OBS to work anymore, well not properly.

Issue: The recording is slow and grinds to a hold (0 fps/no new frames) after 5-10 seconds of recording. It happens rapidly but isn't abrupt, not sure why.

Recent changes: Everything was fine until I have upgraded my monitor to a widescreen 1440p from a 1080p display. Its part of a total system upgrade that will be happening in the upcoming months.

Problem solving so far: I have updated OBS, my Nvidia driver and played around in frustration with OBS settings with disappointing results so far.

I will upload 2 log files:
"2022-12-11 14-11-40.txt" The failed attempt to capture 1440p video locally. Has bad video frames/fps.
"2022-12-11 14-31-05.txt" My latest attempt. A good fps capture but poor visual quality due to screen cropping and its at 1080p. Can't really explain it as its a combination of several changes, hopefully the log file will reveal something to someone.

Thanks for your help in advance, Net

You changed many core settings from the default, and these have a performance impact not expected with default settings. The increased monitor resolution (more pixel to handle!) pushed your system over the edge of overload.
To start fresh with default settings, create a new profile (Menu Profile->new).
Then do Tools->Auto Configuration Wizard and let it optimize for recording.
It will create a configuration with simple output mode and nvenc as encoder. Keep this and don't change anything except the quality (choose between high quality/indistinguishable quality). In Settings->Video, don't change anything except the output resolution, if you need it. In case the wizard entered a lower resolution than your default 3440x1440, you can enter 3440x1440 here. In Settings->Advanced, don't change anything. Neither change color format, nor color space, nor color range.

Thanks for the reply. Well I know it has not "pushed my system over the edge of overload". And by the system I mean the hardware not the software. To prove that I have screen recorded 30 seconds of just my desktop with a simple timer in a browser. I attached a picture of it in action with Task Managers Performance graphs showing the load on the CPU, GPU etc as proof but I have now noticed this message at the bottom of OBS while recording:

Encoding overloaded: Consider turning down video settings or using a faster encoding preset.

I presume my encoding preset does not like my video settings which is sorta what you mentioned above. Ill have to have another play with the settings. If you have any further suggestions please let me know.
