Well the situation is that the video files are encoded using variable frame rate.. currently, a lot of editing programs do not seem to properly support variable frame rate. Either that or I'm setting the wrong output properties for MP4 somewhere, which is also possible, though currently MP4 is playing fine in most players.

I'm going to try to get constant frame rate implemented in the future and I'll probably get some of these programs to test this out myself to try to see what the issue is. Could also be that they don't support some of the codecs used, such as x264, or AAC. Not entirely sure yet. If anyone else has info on this I would be most grateful.

Currently Renamed file to .avi and converting to .mp4 with Format Factory from CNET with DIVX Codec. Its 2 Hours of Footage so this might take awhile

****FIXED IT*****

Is there a way in the Custom x264 Encoder Settings to specify a constant frame rate? I'm having the identical issue and I'm really hoping to use OBS full-time for my local recording purposes.

Thank you.

Test 11 as well as all upcoming versions should work fantastic with MP4 output. CFR (advanced settings option) is now supported fully, which means that it should now work with a great deal of decoders and editors. The audio channel issues in MP4s have also been fixed, so MP4s in general should have no problems with editing programs anymore.

I just tried 473b11 and found the issue is still there.

I'm using MediaInfo and I see that the frame rate mode is listed as 'variable,' even though I have CFR checked in the Advanced tab.

It also shows that there's a minimum frame rate of 29.412 fps and a maximum rate of 30.303 fps.

Do you have any plans of implementing a true CFR of 29.970?

I can provide a screenshot and sample video if you wish.

Thank you.

What issue? Turn CFR in advanced on, and make sure audio is AAC, and the files should work fine, especially with the latest test. Everyone who has done that has said that the MP4 files work fine.

What is the point of 29.97? It's like one less frame every thousand frames.

29.970 is only useful in the context of a NTSC TV broadcast signal. This is all-digital, no TV involved. Welcome to the Internet streaming revolution. If you really need videos in 29.970, then I recommend recording at 30fps and re-rendering at 29.970 if you really must.

Hello Jim,

You are correct, and files now drop into Sony Vegas with no issues.

I do have a question; What is the proper location/procedure for a feature request? I'm hoping to see a feature to auto-split local record files into a given file size.

Thank you.

You can post in the Feedback and Suggestions forum if you have feature requests you'd like to see in the program.
