Question / Help Local recording problems

Hi. So I have been trying to create a local recording of Dark Souls 2 (if that matters). I have been tinkering with the settings but could not get a pesky frame problem to go away. It is pretty noticeable but not super big. I couldn't really find a good solution to the problem (I'm not quite sure what I'm doing). Thanks in advanced.

1080@30 is a bit much for default preset for your CPU. try changing the preset to superfast, buffer to 0 and quality balance to 10 that should get the best quality and not be a huge burden on your CPU.

You have to look at the bottom of my log. Here it is (I already have those settings, this is everything I have now):

Yeah, next time just restart OBS to get a new log then record for 5 minutes.

So since your local recording anyway, why dont you try the VCE build?
https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/obs-branch-with-amd-vce-support.13996/

you cant use 0 buffer with it, but you can set bitrate/buffer as specified in the front page

Bumping for needed help :(
Please dont bump after just one hour.

So I downloaded the VC++ (x84 and x64). Then I clicked on it and selected Install. I'm not sure where to find my files or where they went. It just told me everything installed. I'm unsure on what to extract (step 2).

do you have 7zip or winrar? if not, you will need one of them to extract the OBS fork files to desktop (or someplace you want them. dont overwrite programfiles\OBS just put them someplace separate. once you have the extractor, download the most recent release then right click the latest binary files (either 32bit or 64bit) and put them on a folder in your desktop.

extract the OBS fork files to desktop .

That's my issue, I cant find the files to extract.
these are the steps I've taken:
1) clicked download on the VC++ x64 and x84
2) They've downloaded
3) click on the downloads
4) They then go through a short installation process
I'm not sure what to do after that. The only thing on the desktop is the downloads, but those aren't files.

Sorry for this, by the way. I know this isn't exactly a good use of your time.

yeah you're done with the VC++ install, now download 7zip, run the install. Then download the binaries (either 32 or 64bit) I use 64 just fine but there are a few capture cards, and other things that prefer 32bit, I'll leave that to your discression.

once you download the binaries, right click them and select extract, extract them to a folder on your desktop (you might have to create this folder). call it something like what the filename is. in this case, it is currently called "obsvce_2015-07-25_64bit" for the 64bit files.

Ah! My problem was that I thought the VC++ had files :P heh. Anyways, I followed the rest of the steps.
Here is a log:
https://gist.github.com/anonymous/0381384c8dc820b54d6f

I don't know if it saved in the log, but I lowered the FPS to 22, adjusting the GOP accordingly (FPS = 22, GOP = 11)
This helped my problem a lot. However, there are still frames missing in the video (although they skip less often). I'd rather not lower the FPS any more too.

standard fps are 25, 30, 45, 48, or 60fps, 22 is not one of them. with anything below 60 you really want to set GOP to double fps for the best compression/quality.
IDR is always double ( set this to 0 and it will do it for you).
I think your buffer to way to high. just set it to the same as your bitrate for now

use VBR for local recordings and follow the guide from the front page about max bitrate.

Although it takes more time for the problem to appear, severe lag is still present every now and then.
Current log:

EDIT (additional info):
I did some more testing and found that every time the video lagged, OBS would go anywhere from the set 25 FPS to 21-24 FPS. There was one very large spike in the middle of the recording that actually dropped OBS down to 1 frame, but it recovered very quickly.

try host or DX9 instead of DX11.
