Question / Help Local Recording not reflecting OBS Preview

Hello OBS boards,

I've been an active user of OBS since 2013. I am usually able to troubleshoot issues online via the OBS forums or Google search. This time, however; I am bringing up unanswered threads. After spending over 4 hours this morning I'm unable to solve my problem. I hope I've gathered all the pertinent information.

I am having an issue in which my Local Recordings are not reflecting the OBS Preview. It seems as though OBS is cutting off some screen space on all sides even though the Preview shows that these areas should be recorded. I've included two screenshots: 1) is a projector view of the preview on my (main) monitor and 2) is the footage of a video recorded in OBS.

Logs: https://gist.github.com/1e4518425e0013f8a2368464f88de0b2 -- (I'm not sure if this is relevant to analyzing the log but I did have Bioshock Infinite minimized while taking screenshots.)

The discrepancies in the two pictures may be hard to see at first but a small portion of the screen is being cut off on all sides while Preview shows that the full picture should be captured. Furthermore, I was a little disappointed this morning, after grinding forums to find an answer, so -- thinking the issue lied with OBS -- I installed Xsplit Broadcaster. I am having the exact same issues in Xsplit Broadcaster.

Finally, these issues are not restricted to Bioshock Infinite. I have had the same problems recording with or without a Game/Window/Monitor capture. I have not tried recording without, atleast, a webcam.

I'd also like to add that although the pictures I've provided are in OBS Studio, I am having the issue in both Studio and Classic.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Cody

Thanks Harold. Could you be more specific about what within streaming settings may cause the issue? I don't have a Stream Server enabled right now and I don't see an option to use either Streaming or Recording settings though I am pressing the Starting Recording... button.

I will admit, I am new to OBS Studio so I may be overlooking something.

Thanks

Don't set OBS to use the stream encoder for recording.

Ideally, use simple output mode, indistinguishable recording quality, software low cpu use encoder.

Thanks Harold. I've set OBS up to your specifications but, unfortunately, I'm still having the issue. I've included a screenshot to confirm I have the correct settings. Also, a log from a 15 second recording with your settings: https://gist.github.com/287b5263c0392e687458bb09d4822657

Jack0r, I've tried different encoders (x264, AMD, AMD[Advanced]) but continue to get the same issue. I will dig through the link you've left for any information, thank you. Though, I'm not having issues with CPU load rather with my video not matching the preview I've set up in OBS. I wonder if this could be a system display issue? My resolutions are consistent on my system and within OBS.
