Question / Help Local File Record - Codec

When I do a local file record OBS works fine, however when I try to play it back I get a message telling me I'm missing a codec. What codec does OBS use and how do I install it?

It should be a standard h.264/aac file, assuming you're using AAC audio (which you should). You can try downloading the K-lite codec pack to make sure you have everything you need, though.

If you use Windows Media Player like me, I really recommend the Shark007 codec pack. There has not been a single file I haven't been able to play with it installed.
