Question / Help Livestreaming over cellular data or satellite.

Hi I am new to the forums but I am hoping I have found the right one and am looking for some advice. I would like to put on a livestream over cellular data or satellite connection. Using a wired or WiFi connection is not always possible due to the geography of where my business operates. Unfortunately using my cell carrier signal through a WiFi hotspot is not always possible either. I have been researching the possibilities of satellite internet. I think I need 3Mbps minimum to stream.

3Mbps is a good recommended upload speed, which satellite doesn't always provide. they usually provide 3Mbps download but slower upload. at that I'm assuming you know that they typically have data caps.

Now that this has been said, you can do this over satellite but you need to be sure of two things.

1. your upload needs to be stable at whatever speed you upload with
2. your latency needs to be stable as well.

the more the two of these fluctuate, the more stuttering and skipping your stream will have.

latency will only increase by your latency, so a typical stream will be delayed from end to end by about 13-16 second. you will have an additional 2 seconds of delay since satellite will have between 1300 and 2000 ms latency.

try this tool and post your screenshots of the results.

speedtests dont matter as much as this does.
