Hey all, I don’t know where else to turn so I’m posting this here. I’m hoping some of y’all with streaming experience can shed some light. I’m not a gamer but a musician who’s band is on hiatus due to the pandemic. I’ve been planning a YouTube livestream of a solo acoustic performance. I’ve been researching since March and have learned a lot about OBS and other streaming software. I also bought a Logitech Brio, mostly for its wider FOV, 1080p 60fps and ability to move the position and set up the shot. I use a vocal processor that both my guitar and voice go through. In live-streaming on Instagram via iphone the video and audio are perfect. I go through the processor to a little mono sound interface called an iRig directly into my phone. Because I don’t have enough followers on YouTube I can’t livestream on their mobile app, I have to use my computer. For my computer l go out from my processor into a Scarlett audio interface and connect via USB into my computer. I downloaded OBS and my Logitech Brio came with streaming software as well. Within the software I look and sound great. Well today was my big day to start testing on YouTube. I learned with YouTube GoLive I don’t actually need OBS for this kind of presentation. They have their own encoding and this just a straight on shot of me in my studio, no PIP or chroma key needed or any of that. Well the YouTube test live feed look crappy. The sound fluctuated and became tinny, the video is practically low-res! I checked out all possibilities, the testing looked good in OBS, Logitech Capture, and, as I said, I can livestream via my phone just fine. I just can’t figure this out and can’t find any forums dedicated to a general discussion of YouTube live-streaming. Since I get that your community is uber experienced with live-streaming I thought I’d reach out. Also, suspecting a connectivity issue, I tested my computer connection with both WiFi and Ethernet. Tested my phone with both WiFi and 5G. No problems on the phone side.
Well, thanks, hope someone can chime in if any of the above makes any sense :)
