Question / Help Live Stream Possibilities without capture card

I want to set up a live stream with my macbook pro. My Initial setup would be a gopro connected with a hdmi cable directly to the laptop and from there via OBS on Facebook. Is it necessary to have a capture card inbetween or are there solutions for this direct connection? Currently I am not able to see any signals in OBS.

That's just an HDMI output, you need a capture card.
