Question / Help Live Gamer HD + Local Recording

Hello! OBS is great and I plan on donating soon. I can't wait to get this straightened out! Ok here it goes.
What I do:
I use my Avermedia Live Gamer HD to record locally NOT STREAM and I use OBS to get my audio, mic and usb headset to be heard by me and the video without a sound card.

Heres the situation:
My Avermedia Live Gamer HD is great but it seems like the capture card is not being utilized and is recording at 20-30 and my cpu usage is what it is when I am streaming before I got the card. When I record with RECentral (which has been giving me lots of trouble not to mention it causes my system to hang) the video that I get is at a constant 30 fps (1080p) looks great and I don't even notice it running, its awesome. Again though, the card only seems to be getting utilized by RECentral. In OBS I added it as a capture card and I get the audio and video in the recording but not the hardware encoded performance.

What I would like:
I heard OBS was made around the Avermedia Live Gamer so I don't understand why it seems like it is not being utilized. I followed Anarchy's tutorial BTW and any insight would be extremely appreciated.
