Question / Help Line In Sound Problems

I'm not sure if I have set my stream up correctly but, I am using line in on my computer for sound because I want to capture the party chat on Xbox one and stream it to twitch for others to hear. Everything is working fine, except for the fact that the sound comes before the actual action of the gun. So the video is delayed. I am not sure if I have set this up correctly. Also I am trying to use other apps like Skype and Spotify and also have a Logitech camera that I use just as a facecam. I've tried looking all over for a solution as I have played with all the global settings and buffering and still it seems to have no effect on the sound coming before. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh and I use an El Gato Game Capture HD

The Elgato devices implement a slight delay by default. The delay is roughly 600ms. You should implement this delay in the audio settings in OBS. Tweak it a bit to make sure it fits well with your combination of devices and you should be good.

tried tweaking just about everything and still the sound comes before. maybe i need to uninstall and reinstall?

No. The video capture is delayed by about 0.6 seconds as said, you can correct this in OBS so the sound is synchronised with the video.
