Launching OBS consumes too much bandwidth!

Dear all,

I am new to OBS and I am trying to use it to lecture remotely. I am connecting my ipad to my macbook pro create a video output with my camera and ipad screen, send it to the NDI virtual input and to the NDI video monitor and select this camera on Zoom. Works fine for a while but then the image on the receiving end degrades quickly. I did my best to troubleshoot this and realized that my bandwidth (both download and upload) reduce from 500mbps to about 100mbps immediately after I launch OBS (thus, I am not streaming nor recording at this point)! If I feed my ipad screen directly to Zoom everything works fine, but I would like to go through OBS to enjoy OBS features like filters.

I read a lot here I saw posts about OBS dropping frames, but I am not sure if this is the same problem because to me the bandwidth decay occurs immediately after launching OBS. I wonder if anyone has a suggestion for what I may be doing wrong and how to address this concern. Many thanks!
