Laptop extremely laggy when operating OBS

What happens if you encode with Intel QSV(quicksync) instead? You will need the intel graphic driver installed for that. I am certain you shouldn't have an issue using that. I assume its this driver since your CPU appears in it: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19344/intel-graphics-windows-dch-drivers.html

If you already have that installed(if you just installed it now then you need to restart the pc) then in OBS Studio it should appear as an option as the encoder. This will make the GPU inside the Intel CPU to be the one encoding.

I don't have an intel PC to test with right now but that was the way it used to work -edit- forgot to mention I don't have experience with a laptop doing this only desktop pc's(kinda remembering I had to enable the igpu in bios) so I don't know if anything else is needed to get it to appear as an option in OBS for your laptop.

Hello sendblink23, I already use QSV to encode (please see image attached)? Seems like it to me (sorry I am new and may not know entirely what you are referring to).

The drivers I am using look very different from what is indicated in the link you provided (please see image attached). Should I just install the driver in the link you posted?

I am blind, been reading the *Streaming top part always and not the Recording part on those screenshots(even on the past thread) - yes now I noticed you are indeed using the QSV

Then what happens if you use a lower quality setting?

Also what about x264(encoding with the CPU)

What are some settings I can try to lower the quality setting? Thanks.

If you were to try settings, x264
If by default you are having issues then(default is VeryFast)

- add a check mark on 'enable advanced enconder settings'

and change Encoder Preset to: superfast (test it, if still laggy issues then try ultrafast)
Just in case the "faster" it is the lower quality it will be, so you will need to increase the Video Bitrate - so if 2500 is not enough, try 3000, 3500 or up to 5000. If 5000 has zero issues then you can go higher as well.

Also in Recording Quality, use "Same as stream"... then only make the changes in the streaming area.

Forgot to say, in the Streaming part you can try as Encoder the Intel QSV and change up there the video bitrate / quality - remember Recording when used 'same as stream' it will use those "streaming" settings for the recording.

Look at the OBS Output screen.... just read the stuff I wrote and you will see the things

Start at the bottom in the Recording area... change recording quality to "same as stream" then do everything else on the Streaming top area.

At the streaming top at 'Encoder' you can also choose there 'Intel QSV'(my amd pc doesn't have it obviously, reason you do not see it on my gif) to test it out again
