Question / Help Laptop Black Screen

Hi, I've read the post about if you're using a laptop and it shows a black screen, as the webcam might be on a different GPU... but I'm afraid none of the instructions make any sense to me :(

Window capture and "compatibility mode":
  • If you cannot set the GPU (AMD laptops typically), or wish to cross-capture an image from the other GPU after that (example, league of legends lobby window), use window/monitor capture with the "compatibility mode" option enabled to force a capture. "Compatibility mode" requires a bit more CPU usage however.
  • Compatibility mode is not recommended for capturing games, but it basically guarantees a capture.
  • Game capture does not have a compatibility mode. Game capture must run on the same GPU as that you wish to capture.
How do I set the compatibility mode? How do I set which GPU it's using? I've been all through the settings and can't see anything similar :(

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 with an ATi R7 Gfx card if it matters.

Thanks.

Thanks. I've been through the guide to set it to high performance, but it hasn't helped :( Any other ideas?

Looks to be running on the proper GPU, but hard to say what any issues could be as there's no recording/streaming attempt in there.

Try this instead:

Please post a link to a clean log file. To make a clean log file, first restart OBS, then start your stream/recording for ~30 seconds and stop it again. Make sure you replicate any issues as best you can, which means having any games/apps open and captured, etc. When you're done select Help > Log Files > Upload Current Log File. Copy the URL and paste it here.

If your webcam is not displaying video in OBS, try setting the resolution and FPS to something known that the camera supports. Go to the Video Capture Device properties, change Resolution/FPS Type from Device Default to Custom, and then set the options accordingly.
