Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I too would very, very much appreciate support for Lagarith encoding or other lossless output, possibly through DirectShow support. DxTory is great and provides many useful features for recording video games, but it's not any good for doing pre-recorded Desktop/Window capture, and it doesn't work for all games (e.g. Mercenary Kings, which I had to use FRAPS for). I've tried alternatives for capturing the Desktop, like HyperCam and CamStudio, but their functionality is significantly lacking. The main feature they are missing is any decent control over audio devices: Hypercam only allows you to record a single audio device, and has no support for push-to-talk. I've also found the audio stream can drift, and there are no settings for interleaving. CamStudio does not allow push-to-talk either, and I've not been able to get it to work recording both Microphone and Windows sounds.
OBS has very advanced features and is perfect for recording Desktop and Game activity accompanied by Microphone and Desktop sounds. It has all the functionality one would want from a Desktop recording program already built-in. I use it exclusively for making pre-recorded videos of Desktop/Game activity. Currently I output to file using high quality H264 with the veryfast preset before re-encoding to H264 using a slower preset and lower quality. I would very much like to see support for Lagarith encoding.
