Question / Help Laggy Recording Only on Certain Games

Hey guys, I seem to have a strange problem. Lately, I had just gotten back to recording games for/with my friends for our youtube channel, and have recently ran into a problem. This has mainly happened with "The Forest" (or atleast, this is when I found it.) The game itself never lags, in fact, it runs at extremely high fps, but the recording always seems to lag or pause at certain points. I don't suspect that these are ever using more memory than others either, as sometimes they are ok in some recordings, while they lag in others. I have my OBS properties set to 1080 recording, if that may affect anything. If anyone can help me solve the problem, it would be a lot of help! I have posted my log down below.

19:28:26: Total frames encoded: 32630, total frames duplicated: 2307 (7.07%)
19:28:26: Number of frames skipped due to encoder lag: 1750 (5.36%)
19:28:26: Total frames rendered: 30875, number of late frames: 113 (0.37%) (it's okay for some frames to be late)

So yeah 7% duplicated frames is bad. You might set the Process Priority Class (Settings > Advanced) higher than default so that your computer dedicates more CPU time to OBS. But this probably won't be able to make up for 7% duplicated frames. Your CPU may not be strong enough for this. You'll have to do something else in addition, like downscaling the resolution or setting the framerate lower.

I just find it strange that it only happens with this game. Everything else returns a super smooth recording, except for this game. Could the game be using too much of the CPU power that OBS needs by any chance?

I'm not familiar with that game but its known that some games have more visual complexity than others, which means they are harder to encode. I hear the grass in Arma3 is a killer, too.

And obviously some games use more CPU than others. Ironically the better a game multithreads (uses more than 1 CPU) the harder it is to stream, since unused CPUs are easier for OBS to use.
