Question / Help Lagging every 5-10 seconds

Hello all....I have been using OBS forever but recently my stream will get a freeze (pause) for about 1 second every 5-10 seconds.

I have always been able to stream with 4000 bitrate but now to get the stream from stop lagging I have to be around 500 (terrible quality).

Interestingly though my VOD on twitch looks great.....so I do not know why I am livestream lagging

If anyone can help me to diagnose this problem it would be great!

What I have tried so far:

Changing bitrate (500 is only acceptable number)
Resetting router
Fresh OBS install
Changed server

Did you change anything in between everything being fine and this problem suddenly popping up? If not, try a different streaming server and/or resetting your stream key.

If you did, try reverting those changes to see if the problem persists.

I did not change anything in between the issues...... I have recently tried changing numerous settings to get a better outcome.


I already tried switching servers...tried 3 different ones and how do I go about getting a new stream key?

Livestream lagging as in it tries to buffer?

It happens i think... Sometimes while streaming, I have my laptop set to my page and i watch it also and sometimes it'll lag and sometimes it won't. It really is pretty random, regardless of your download speed, it seems like it wants to buffer considering your VOD came out pretty smooth, i probably wouldn't worry too much about it.

Like for example, while streaming. If my stream is lagging on my laptop, friends who are watching say that it's okay and its not lagging for them.

not trying to buffer....like whatever i am streaming just lags terribly and then comes back for about 5-6 seconds then starts again...I can go setup my stream now and show if anyone wants to take a peek @ what I mean.....then like I said the VOD works fantastic.

anyway the stream looks okay on my part
not freezing or anything
also i should mention, that some games when you alt tab
the game will freeze on the stream
but once you go back into game, the stream continues as it was

it seems to be doing it now....i know i had 1 or 2 people see it earlier tell me it was fine but now i have 2-3 viewers who are saying it is lagging.
