Question / Help Lag Spikes in OBS

Ok, so for a long time I was recording gameplay without any issues. Everything was working fine. I started to mess around with streaming about 3 weeks ago and everything was fine. The streaming quality was just fine. However, about a week ago my obs started to lag spike. But not me. My gameplay is actually fine, no real noticeable dips or spikes in my gameplay. It doesnt matter if I stream, record, or even preview. It lags

I would rather use Shadowplay but I cant stream League with it. Well, not without pausing the stream in between games. But shadowplay seems to work just fine and even better quality. But OBS has so much more features.

My system should be able to handle this no prob. And yes I have tried to uninstall and re install.

Please help.

"Better quality"? Shadowplay? A software encoder like x264 will always have better quality than a hardware encoder. If you say this then your settings are suspect. Get thyself to this thread for better local recording settings: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/how-to-make-high-quality-local-recordings.12600/

40k bitrate is way more than necessary for any recording. Not sure if this might have to do with your lag issue, 40k bitrate might be the cause of it. You really should not need 40k bitrate. That's just insanely high.

Let me repost another log but you are missing the point. It lags regardless. I have used so many different settings. Let me use some stream settings. What you would typically see. It lags even in preview. Please read my entire post.

I have tried so many recommended settings from so many posts here and on youtube. Before I get another similar reply.

I have tried down scaling the res to lower than 720p
I have tried to lower the fps from 30 to 25 and even 20
I have tried every bitrate from 2000kb to 3000kb (in increments of 100)
I have tried switching from the NY server to CA server, but my closest is in Chicago
I have even tried NVENC
I have tried down scaling my audio bit rate too

I dont have the best internet, but I certainly dont have the worst.

If you are streaming, then please read this: https://obsproject.com/forum/thread...oads-constantly-for-my-viewers-but-why.18465/ ..Server, connection, location of streamer versus the server versus the viewers are the big factors to a stream having 'lag'.

If you are recording, then make a separate thread about recording. The guide for high quality recording is what you want to read. I had thought you were meaning the recording was lagging or something because you stated you were recording. Start one thread about one thing at a time if possible.

EDIT: Well, apparently I misunderstood or something. I'm not really allowed to make misunderstandings, lest the sort of thing that happened below occur. I guess I misunderstood, and now I made myself come across as a dumb person, needing a response that begins with "Wow", and all caps in the middle of the reply post, seemingly 'yelling' angrily at me because I misunderstood. I guess I should just spend less time on the forums or something.

Wow, its the exact same lag in both streaming and recording. Lets just keep this goin on streaming settings. Yes I have read that and it doesnt make sense that it was working fine a few weeks ago. And it doesnt make sense that it lags in preview too. Seriously, it lags in the preview video in obs. As if it struggles to keep up with whats happening in game.

For instance, I have noticed that in LOL my mouse cursor will not lag and follow every movement my mouse makes without lag. But my actual video is what lags. AGAIN IN BOTH RECORDING, STREAMING, AND PREVIEW. THE EXACT SAME LAG. As I stated previously.
