Question / Help Lag Spikes during local recordings

Hi, I'm pretty new to obs and recording to general. I've just upgraded to a new laptop - specifically the acer aspire v15 nitro. Here are my specs:
  • CPU: i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz(quad-core, 6MB cache)
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M (2GB GDDR5 RAM), Intel HD Graphics 4600
  • RAM: 12GB DDR3L
  • Storage: 1TB HDD (5,400 RPM) 8GB SSHD
It's competitor is the lenovo y50, which you could use as a comparison.
Recording games is fine, except that every now and then I have a lag spike, where I drop from around 100 fps(in cs go) to around 6-11 fps. It's incredibly frustrating and I've looked for tutorials all over the web, but none seemed to have helped me. Here are my obs settings:

Please advise :(

Could you explain to me what quicksync is? I've seen a number of youtube videos, but they don't explain the settings, they just ask you to tweak it. What is it and what does it do?

its video encoding using the GPU thats on your CPU. It will free up your CPU to run your games. You should see a noticable benefit using quicksync.

It works! But my instead of 6-11, now it drops to around 30 fps or so. Is tehre any other way I could bring it up to 60 fps? Am I limited by my laptop's specs? Thanks for the answer! :)

probably just down to you running the game on a laptop. There probably isnt alot you can do. Have you disabled steams broadcasing feature?

Yeah. Really? What's the desktop equivalent of the GTX860M? So is it impossible to record games without random frame drops to 30 fps? :(

you could try NVENC, which is basically the same thing as quicksync except the encoding is done on the GTX860M. If that doesnt give better results then there isnt much you can do :/

It works! The lag spikes aren't so noticeable now. It now goes down to 45 fps. It's weird though, because I understand that it should spike if I look at a particular graphic intensive scene but it happens randomly. Sometimes I have 250 fps and sometimes I have 45 fps. Is there any way to close the gap? Or find out why there are lag spikes in the first place?
