Question / Help L-3 Mobile-Vision Videos

L-3 Mobile-Vision uses a "Flashback Player" to play police in-car videos. I am trying to copy the videos using OBS, and all it shows is black screen inside the graphic interface. I took a screenshot, and it turns out that I can't even screenshot it. Here is what it looks like, as a graphic as well as screen recording:

There is a picture hiding behind all that black box. Grrr... Any ideas on how to get these videos to copy? The actual video is contained in a QBX file, which appears to be simply a wrapper containing the video itself.

No. I believe this is intentional. L-3 will permit a police department to have additional export options to AVI and other formats at an additional cost. Departments have no desire to pay the extra fee, and as a result, these are nearly unusable in court. We have all sorts of new video equipment in the courtroom, but we have to drag out the disk and a laptop to play these in their original format. It's a complete pain, and the program gaks any time you try to pause it.

BTW, if I play it full screen, OBS records the desktop without the video showing at all as if it were not there.

Anyone else have any insights? I researched it a little further and some folks were having success with a different screen recorder, so it shouldn't be difficult to accomplish this with OBS.

The screenshot shows a very dark magenta, probably a mask color for a hardware YUV overlay.

For most graphics cards, only one program can use hardware YUV overlay, opening a second video player without closing the first video player, may force the second video player to render to screen without mask color to allow easy capture.
