Hm, windows vista? I haven't had much testing on windows vista, almost nobody really uses it. Have you updated windows as much as you can in windows update?

I'm fully updated. I've found I only have this crash happen when I try to start streaming with "Game Capture" as a source, if I use "Window Capture" it works, however I'd really prefer to not have people see what I'm tabbing through (all my chats and such!).

Yea, game capture might be a bit unstable on windows vista. Do you have your drivers updated too? Not entirely sure.

If you have aero disabled (glass theme), enable it, and it will cause window capture to *not* display windows that are on top of them.

After enabling aero, it seemed to take the first frame and then gave me an error in the bottom left saying "Warning: taking too long to encode, skipping frames". It would only show the original frame that I tried to stream, even now when everything has changed and obs is restarted, it still shows that original frame. I've tried lowering the resolution, it no longer shows that warning, however no matter what I try, Window Capture always just shows that original frame and never changes while streaming.

If you get that message it means your settings are too high for your system to handle.

That seems odd, it works just fine without aero enabled while using Window Capture, the only issue being it shows all screens I tab through. As soon as I enable aero, even if I lower the resolution and fps by a lot, it gives me that issue and won't stream.

Hm, interesting. Especially seeing as aero is hardware-accelerated compositing, so that's pretty confusing. I wish I had your computer in front of me to know exactly what's going on there. The whole purposes of aero is to render the desktop in the GPU rather than the CPU.
