Hi,
I've read in a few posts on these forums (all of them well over a year old) that the general consensus is that the Capture Card is mostly pointless as the mods don't feel the h264 encoder is of any decent quality compared to x264. Also I've been reading that the bitrate has to be set so high with h264 to get quality similar to the x264.
I just installed the card last night, and streaming the xbox to twitch using the reccentral software looked great, has something changed maybe with the drivers for the avermedia in the last year or two? I did not notice any lag, and I was streaming in full 720p at 5mbps with perfect quality. That said I'm looking to move to OBS or Xpsplit for better support of my G35 USB Headset, reccentral's usb headset support is nightmarish, stereo mix adjustment did not help as I have no speakers to externally mute the outbound so it just loops in my headphones. I've used OBS in the past to stream from my PC in place of xpslit as the CPU usage from OBS was far less.
I'm going to try OBS tonight when I get off work, did I basically just buy the Avermedia so I could stream games from my xbox, and gained really no additional benefit? My rig isnt the best and I was hoping to get some further relief off my cpu when i do decide to stream from PC, in addition to giving myself the option to stream from my xbox.
CPU: AMD Phenom II Black 1090t 6 core 3.2ghz
GPU: GTX 570
RAM: 8GB
Any advice or updates on how things are looking now would be helpful, like I said all the posts I found were a year or more old.
THANK YOU!
