Question / Help Just a few questions...

I just recently heard about OBS and I am very excited about it (used to use XSplit).

I find that OBS is SO MUCH BETTER and I am loving it very much! But I just have a few questions in regards to some of the options in "Advanced" and Max BR and Buffer Size.

Starting with Max BR and Buffer Size: I have read that having a much lower Buffer Size (in contrast with your Max BR) is a better option than having them matched?

(e.g. Streaming at 720p / 60fps with 2000 Max BR and 1000 Buffer Size will deliver a better quality stream). Is this true?

Secondly, the Advanced options: What exactly does, "Process Priority Class" do? I have it set to "High" with the above option in-check.

Also, what does "Bind to Interface" do? There are two options in the drop-box - "Default" and another option, which appears to be my PC's IP Address. I currently have it set to my PC's IP Address. Do I need to check the "Automatic Low Latency Mode?" And what about the "Latency Tuning Factor?"

The reason why I am asking these questions is, I will be receiving my new internet soon - about two weeks away (with 45 down / 4 up), and would like to know ahead of time how well I can stream with this new service I signed up for. So I am not able to actually use OBS yet or do any of my own testing.

If 4 mbs upload is not sufficient enough, I will have to look for a new ISP with higher upload speeds.

I plan to stream @ 1280x720p resolution and 60fps. What is the HIGHEST possible Max BR I can go WITHOUT affecting my online gaming experience and delivering the best quality possible? And can I potentially stream at 1600x900 or even 1920x1080? if so, what is the Max BR I can go to get the best quality possible on those resolutions?

Also, what should I set my "Quality" setting to?

Games I play:

- Diablo III
- League of Legends
- World of Warcraft
- DayZ

Thank You!

There is very little reason to have your bitrate and buffer sizes different from each other, and whoever told you that lower buffer size is better is quite wrong.

As for the Advanced options, they are advanced for a reason so unless you specifically need to mess with them for a troubleshooting reason, it's recommended to leave them completely alone.

As far as settings for 720p60fps, you will have a good looking stream with bitrate/buffer set at 3000. This gives you plenty of room in your upload speed for your games and any VOIP programs you might be using. For the games you play, I recommend setting the Quality Balance to 6 or 7.
