I read the thread regarding this issue with laptops. I have an older machine (i7 2600k), but with a newer GPU (GTX 960).
I have to admit to being confused with the instructions a little bit:
----from post regarding laptop black screen:
Go to the nvidia control panel in windows control panel, and go to 3D settings on the left. Then, on the right pane, add the OBS.exe path to the drop-down list, and select it to use the nvidia ("performance") adapter.
Or alternatively, here's a bit easier step-by-step for Game Capture:
Nvidia's control panel -> 3D settings on the left -> Global tab on the right -> Click the drop-down box below that, select the nvidia -> Click Apply and OK -> Restart OBS and game.
----
I have gone into the control panel, the Global settings tab does not have a dropdown:
But the Program settings does:
OBS and the game(s) I want to record are listed in the program settings dropdown.
1) For this line (from the forum post) 'Then, on the right pane, add the OBS.exe path to the drop-down list, and select it to use the nvidia ("performance") adapter.': I do not see where to add a path or to 'select' outside of already having OBS in the program dropdown.
2) For this line (from the forum post) '3D settings on the left -> Global tab on the right -> Click the drop-down box below that, select the nvidia -> Click Apply': I don't see nvidia as an option in the program settings dropdown.
I did click the nvidia 'restore' button, but never changed the settings from default, so doubt that had any impact.
