When I'm recording with OBS, I prefer to use headphones for my audio output. That way, my audio input - the microphone - doesn't also get a portion of the audio output fed back into it, causing an echo.
I can set Windows to feed the audio into the headphones whenever they're plugged in but feed them to the speakers whenever they're not. That's easy.
But for OBS studio, it doesn't seem that easy. Every time I plug the headphones in, I have to re-introduce the "audio output" source into the scene, otherwise it won't record the audio output.
I just lost an hour's worth of recorded content, all because I had the audio input (microphone recording flawlessly but the audio output (headphones) wasn't recording at all, and I didn't realize it until it was too late. I had to scrap a whole hour's worth of content and start over.
Is there any way to consistently make the audio output switch between headphones and speakers? Or at the very least, a means of ensuring that the headphones will always record whenever they're the default audio device?
