Question / Help Is there a way to make VLC Video Source play m3u8?

Pretty much what the title says, i'm wondering if, using VLC video source, I can play m3u8 files through the playlist function.
Is this possible? VLC can certainly play them.

Yes, I tested with this url and it works fine:
