Question / Help Is there a config file that can be renewed to put back to factory settings.

I am doing my best to learn this sucker, however I get it so screwed up that I cannot make heads or tails out of it.. So now and again i will remove and reinstall so it looks like something I can recognize.... Is there a config file that I can save immediately following install that I can copy over the one I butchered and make it look right again. That will be much faster then remove and re-install.. since you must remove it else an install over the old one keeps the old configuration..
Don't laugh now... some of you must have had trouble learning this.. Actually all i want it to do is do a screen video capture w/o the use the browser input and I am happy. I am sure I will figure it out... I want the video to be playing full screen and have the OB capture the live video without loading it into the browser box at all. Thanks for any advice for this poor soul..

Thanks but that is not what I was looking for. I was hoping to find that if I go to my windows directory file in the Program Files there might be config default file that I could copy upon install and save it and when i mess us the screen so I can no longer recognize it.. I wanted to dump the original config file over the current one to place it back to factory setting.. at least to OBS original settings.. any chance anyone knows if that is possible.

The .mp4 container format requires extra metadata to be written at the very end of the session, which contains data about the video itself (how long, timing info, etc). If this data isn't written, then the file is corrupt because there's no way to piece back together the video from the partial file. This is especially troubling in the case of OBS, which is a live recording software.

.mkv has no such issue. If there's an issue with data being written to the file, it is still readable up to the point where the failure occurs.

Add to this, the actual encoded data is easily remuxed between .mkv and .mp4 after the fact. OBS has a built-in feature to let you do this, and it usually takes just a few seconds to maybe a few minutes, depending on the size of the file. No re-encoding is done -- the existing data is just packed into a different container format, with no quality loss.

Thanks for that explanation.. even i can follow that.. but I just looked at all the recordings that i have made and they are MKV.. guess I don't know how to switch to mp4.. so will leave them as they are unless I happen to need mp4 for some reason and then I will convert the mkv as you suggested. But I guess it matters not as I won't be making ANY recordings since i can't get past step 1.. as you can see if you have looked at my other post that says... Cannot get my desk top to show on the recorder.. and therefore cannot record the screen... all it records is those silly echos that auto show when you start.. and is sad since supposedly Desk Top Video Recording should be the easiest.. and that is all I want to do but unless someone can see what I am doing wrong I will have to drop out and try another method of screen recording as I have run out of ideas.. but thanks for your gracious explanation.
