Question / Help Is quicksync good?

Hey guys :) I've heard a lot about using quicksync for streaming though i know that before using it would yes have almost no impact to game but the quality was terrible. Is that still true or is the quality very good now compared to using cpu?

The quality is somewhere between what you would get with the superfast preset and the veryfast preset. It's a godsend for CPU-heavy games like Battlefield 3/4, but for most purposes I think it's better suited for local recording at high bitrates. Worth checking out for sure.

Apparently the upper end Haswell CPUs have quicksync quality pretty much on par with Veryfast now. The Iris Pro 5200 (which is laptop only right now) is about on par with Faster.

@dodgepong so the quality would be similar to superfast? Currently i run 3500 bit superfast and the quality is fine but i get decent frame lag. Your saying if i use quicksync the quality should be the same?! That would rock.

Yeah, something like that. You'll have to test it out to be sure, it couldn't hurt.

ok well i threw on quicksync in my bios and downloaded my latest drivers and everytime i preview my stream in obs is freezes then minute later stops responding. :/ weird.
