Question / Help Is it really necessary to stream with CBR @ Twitch?

Hi, so I'm just getting into streaming and I'm setting up my settings in OBS when it pops up with a red text warning me that my settings aren't optimized for Twitch. I've watched plenty of streams in the past that were broadcasted without using CBR and they were streaming just fine. So what am I missing here? It seems like a gigantic waste of bandwidth to stream with CBR on.

When you stream with VBR, if you bandwidth usage changes wildly, it will cause lag for viewers. The internet works better with more consistent, predictable transfer speeds, rather than speeds that are constantly changing.
