I have seen other posts about this, but most of them are several years old. When using the built in streaming capabilities in Steam to stream games to your friends, it is possible to have only the game audio + your mic, or your entire desktop audio + your mic. This leads me to believe there is technically some way to mute individual apps. Is this a possibility for an upcoming feature in OBS Studio, or is there pretty much no easy way to make this work? It'd be great if you could mute specific programs on your stream while still being able to hear them yourself.

Steam apps have to use the Steam toolkit. Seeing as all of that is closed-sourced one can only speculate, but my guess is that if Steam somehow made their streaming app work with non-steam games, it would have the same issue as OBS when it comes to routing audio (i.e. you need a 3rd party program to do so).
