Is it possible to "Live Stream" to YouTube using a laptop?

Hi, I'm new to the forum but wanted to ask a question as I want to start Live Streaming to my YouTube channel.

I'm currently using an Elgato HD60 that is connected to my Laptop. However, my Laptop isn't powerful enough to stream through Elgato so I have to use OBS. I've been researching about how to use OBS and I'm now familiar with the software. The only problem is when I go "Live" the stream becomes Jumpy, Laggy and it buffers a lot. However, it still maintains the quality that I set it to originally (720p or 1080p).

OBS Settings:

- 1280x720

- 30fps

- 3500 Bitrate

I have a Core i3 processor, would that be the reason as to why I'm experiencing issues?

Thanks for reading, I hope someone can help :)

The CPU is very weak. You might be able to pull off some quicksync stream but it wont be good quality assuming you are not doing much else.
A quadcore cpu with hyperthreading is recommended for laptops

You can't be "also" getting the issue as the original poster of this thread, as you are complaining about a different issue. Post your own thread.

You can stream with any pc as long as youre not playing more cpu heavy games, if the fps is dropping turning off new networking code fixes it if its disabled already turn down the resolution and bitrate and set in advance high priority and make sure the preset is set to super fast or whatever its called

Mario, thanks for your advice. I'll look at the settings. I know the Bitrate in OBS is set at 4000, then 2500, both results were the same. I'll look at the setting closer and find the network code you spoke of. I have 720p set in "ingest" on YouTube, but I've seen lots of streams in 720p. I'll look it over again

Harold, it's appears to me framing and buffering from OBS to YouTube is the same issue. Better laptop and Elgoato is the only difference. But thanks for all your helpful advice. Not sure why your labeled a helper. Neither post you made in THIS thread was helpful.
