Question / Help Is it possible to isolate sound with multiple obs streaming?

Hello,

This is what I want to do, I want to stream 2 different movies at once to different channels from 1 PC using 2 OBS instances.

What I want to know is if it's possible to isolate both streams in a way that in every channel I only hear 1 particular movie instead of the complete desktop sounds.

For a better understanding:

With my PC I open 2 OBS instances, I'll call them i1 and i2. In i1 I have 1 movie, I'll call it m1, so in i2 I'll have another different movie, m2. i1 will be streaming to 1 channel called c1 and i2 to c2.

My question is, is there any way I can isolate both channels so in c1 I just hear m1 and m2 in c2 and not every sound of the entire PC? Perhaps using Virtual Audio Cable?

Thanks in advance.

It would probably be better to use the video plugin in the plugins section, as that will isolate the sound for each instance. You don't want to try to do something with desktop sound or isolate desktop sounds because that's just not going to work.

AH! A question I know the answer too.

when you go to play your movies, make sure you you select each movie seperately means, for instrance

DVD player IN 1

DVD player in 2

If you're running them both off the PC you'll need to make sure you have virtual output enabled in your programs so OBS can see them (IE VLC or Windows media palyer) as cameras.

Otherwise, you're going to need virtual audio cable, and pay for it.

Thanks for the responses, how can I set VLC up to behave as a camera?

I don't mind paying for VAC, I just want to get everything working, I'll give a try to the trial version.

make sure "output enabled" is on for your devices.

then use "game capture" as the source, and it should show up for VLC, even my web browser shows in Game capture.

You should only use game capture with games, just because an app shows up in it does not mean you can capture it, it only means the app at some point in its lifetime has loaded a direct3d DLL.

Ah, my mistake I thought since that's where VLC shows up, like xsplit it'd work.

see if you can find VLC in another capture source then, one of them should grab it as long as "output enabled" is on n said software..

I can capture VLC with Game Capture, that's in fact what I was doing, I need to perform some adjustments to fill the video inside the scene but it works. I still can't find where that "output enabled" option is located, I'll be very thankful if you could give me more specific details.
