You're basically there, but you don't need to send your mic to the hardware output unless you actually want your voice to be coming through your speakers (which I'm guessing you don't).

You'll also want to set your default audio device in Windows to be a virtual device, so that audio sent to that (i.e. game audio) can be picked up separately. Then route game and skype speaker audio to the hardkware output using Voicemeeter.

Yes. The different virtual audio systems have different names so I am just going to use generic names here.

Skype to virtual cable 1
Windows default audio device set to virtual cable 2
Capture virtual cable 1 and virtual cable 2 on different inputs in OBS Studio so they can be placed on different tracks.
Route virtual cable 1 and 2 to hardware output so that you can hear them.

Hi,

In Voice meeter on the top left you assign the inputs you want to use so game audio, skype etc these you can place on different Windows Playback devices e.g game audio standard Reltek say and skype on the new VB Cable

Then in Voice Meeter in the outputs you can assign which inputs you want to go to that output via the buttons A1, A2, A3 etc down vertical channel for the input, just like mixer.

Note if you require more outputs then Voice meeter bananna also free add 1 additional output and some other options.,

Okay, thanks guys. Do I need to reverse the changes everytime Im done with recording, or can I leave it be without being hindered in some sort?

Incredibly there ain't some sort of beginner tutorial on this

No you shouldn't as long as you load voice meeter up if you are pulling all the inputs say game sound and skype into your headphones via VB-Cable then you will still hear both. If you don't have voice meeter loaded in this config then you will only hear the audio assigned on VB-Cable which could be nothing.

I'm looking to do a video and post it to my YT channel on it in the next week or so as recently I've played around alot with audio both virtual and a physical mixer so if your still stuck drop on and I should have a more detailed guide on it uploaded.

If you get stuck using the virtual mixing software and cables, drop me a line. I recently went through this myself and now have it setup to record music, game sound (not desktop), teamspeak/skype + mic all on separate tracks inside OBS whilst simultaneously streaming to Twitch. Using the mixing software I select what I want to stream and what I want to listen to and can select different audio settings per scene. There are several videos on YouTube that can help, but ultimately I just worked through it one device at a time until it worked how I wanted it.

I'm afraid I have to find another program, as this just has an insane high learning curve :/ Thanks for the help though, but I need something that just records when I ask it to, and not give me a black screen etc.

If you have an nvida GPU 600 series above then you can use shadowplay with is part of the Nvidia experience software included in the drivers. It uses Nvenc to record and is easy to use though is limited in what you can customise.
