Question / Help Is a graphics card a necessity when using OBS to stream on twitch?

So this is my first thread on the OBS forums and it's a big one (to me at least). I've been streaming for a while and I'm loving it 100%, but I'm relying on my elgato game capture HD to do all the work for me and it crashes a lot. I want to use OBS cause everyone loves it, it has lots of cool features, and it's FREE! I installed it on my laptop, but it doesn't work cause it asks for my graphics card. I don't have a graphics card in my laptop cause it uses the integrated intel graphics. I'm planning on building a custom streaming PC and want to know what graphics card I should get. What do you guys think?

If you get an nVidia card, make sure the last 2 digits on the card are -50 or higher, and was released in the past ~3 years or earlier. Similar time frame for ATI cards.

Something like a AMD R7-250 or 260 will work very nicely(I speak from experience, my streaming PC has a R7-260 in it)

Thanks again! Do you have any recommendations for NVIDIA cards though? If you got some sweet AMD cards that are too good to pass up then great. I'll accept any recommendations, I just prefer NVIDIA a bit more.

As Ferret said, anything above a GTX 3XX would work.

Just to rule out GPU issues, I would recommend going with a 6-series or higher. Something like a GTX 650, 640, or 750.
