Question / Help Intel as my Video Adapter instead of Nvidia

Hey. Here's my question.

I want to build another machine dedicated to streaming. I currently have an i7 2600k for my Broadcast/PC Gaming machine. If I try to run it as the "Video Adapter" under "Video" on OBS it doesn't achieve the full framerate I want at all times. Example. 1280x720 at 30fps. It'll drop below 30fps if there's too much motion.

What I want to know is if I got a processor like... example: The i7 6700k and used it's Intel Graphics Video Card as my Video Adapter in OBS on a separate computer from my PC Gaming computer would I be able to sustain the FPS I want better or would I still have to get an nvidia or amd video card just to keep my OBS FPS stable?

you are thinking about this all wrong. there is an issue with your single PC set up as almost any PC in the last 5 years should be able to do 720@30. Post your OBS logfile from a stream for at least 5 minutes.

oh I think you might have misread what I was describing. I normally cast with my Nvidia GTX 770 as my 'Video Adapter' under 'Video' on OBS. It casts and works fine! Normally if I select Intel as my 'Video Adapter', not my encoder, it'll lag if I try to do something like 60fps at 720p or 1080p for local recording. I want to expand my broadcast to a two machine setup eventually because I don't want to utilize my gaming computer's processor for encoding and playing PC games.

So my original question was would I have to get an Nvidia or AMD video card to stop said FPS lag if I use Intel as my 'Video Adapter' on a newer processor, like the i7 6700k.

Just so you're aware my broadcast doesn't lag and runs fine, but thanks for caring :)

In a single PC setup, if you select the iGPU in OBS when the NVIDIA adapter is generating the content being captured then yes, performance will tank. That's not because your iGPU is too weak, it's because OBS is having to deal with two separate GPUs which is very inefficient by comparison. Put your 2PC setup together and see how the i7's HD530 handles things. If you then determine it isn't up to the task you can worry about getting a discrete GPU.

So most people forget to get a dedicated GPU when doing 2 PC setups. and it is partially because older iGPUs don't handle scaling well on the stream PC. the new skylake might be different but the one person that was testing that for me never replied back. That being said, if you get a new streaming PC and upgrade your GPU, the 770 you have now should go in your streaming rig.

@dping, if your friend happens to give you an answer on that I'd like to hear it if you could let me know please. The GTX 770 would for now stick where it is and I could dedicate the other machine to the Intel Chip until I get an upgraded video card over time. Thanks :-)

Any dx11 or 12 card will do tbh. it wasn't a friend, it was just someone I was helping and it was about 3 weeks ago so about 300 posts ago? :P

Log file? Log files might show something that may be the problem.

Example. 1280x720 at 30fps. It'll drop below 30fps if there's too much motion.
This will happen if preset is set too slow. Not sure what is set to without log file. Check task manager CPU usage.
