Hey so i recently bought Hitman 2 and ive been playing it quite a while. I manage to get solid avg of 60 fps.
I wanted to stream it but when i open OBS i get instant performance loss even without streaming/recording.
Game is unplayable in some moments.. from 60-70 fps i get like 30-40 fps and the problem is gone when i close obs.
Same with other games. I tested CS:GO where i have like 300 fps - same issue, i open obs and it drops to 80-120 fps, sometimes even to 60.

My specs:
geforce 1080 ti
i7-8700k 3.70 ghz
win 10 home 64 bit
16gb ram
asrock z370 extreme4
monitor acer kg271 b 240hz 1080p

here u have my log https://obsproject.com/logs/DGae6qouuXJSJoai
and my obs (64 bit) settings:

my internet speed 500 down / 50 upload
here u have some screens from game, the same location

Click the ? next to the Bus Interface and run the render test. If the reading does not show @ x16 3.0 then your card is in the wrong slot.

Also your FPS overlay may interfere with game capture, see https://obsproject.com/wiki/Known-Conflicts
I had the same issue without fps overlay too, i turned it on to make a screenshoot.
Ok i will run the render test. How long i should wait? it gonna close automaticly? because its going for 4 minutes

Just a second is enough, if the reading didn't change from @ x8 2.0 then your GPU is in the wrong slot. If that's the case, check your motherboard manual to see which slot it should be in (usually the top one closest to the CPU).

That should be x16 for best performance. You'll need to physically move the GPU to the top slot in your motherboard (PCIE2).

Ok i will check this. So right now its PCIe x16 3.0 @ x8 3.0 and after succefully instaled it should say PCIe x16 3.0 @ x16 3.0 ?

Correct. The first is what the GPU is capable of, the second is what it's currently using.

x8 3.0 is fast enough to lose 0,0000% performance on a RTX 2080 Ti.
My datapath vision sc-dp2 capture card needs a 2.0 x8 slot
So it is on the 2nd gpu slot.
The z390 chipset then splits both gpu slots to be 3.0 8x instead 3.0 16x.
I did benchmark before after - the performance is 100% identical. You can also read it up on the internet that 3.0 x8 is fast enough for a graphics card.
If you can fix it to be x16 go for it - but if not - it doesnt matter at all.

It is enough for both. yes.
The card is absolutely not impacted by it.
I told you I use such a setup with a RTX 2080 ti. No difference to x16 at all.
His problem must be elsewhere. And yes also OBS works just fine.

BUT, the problem is still the same.
Of course its the same. But the guys here apparently cant imagine that x8 is enough for a graphics card :P
I didnt expect any improvement ^^
But since the x16 is usable for you because using only one card (not like me in addition a capture card) it makes sense to use the x16 - even when the card doesnt need the x16 at all.
