Installer or zip?

Installer of course, because it takes care of many small details you're missing if you make everything manually. The installing process is much faster, and good uninstallers remove every trace, so the system is still clean after uninstall.

Myself, I refuse to install unpackaged apps. If it doesn't come with an installer, it also doesn't come with an uninstaller, so I will not use it.

I would also recommend the installer. I will use apps in zip format if they are small, "self contained" apps, meaning all the files they need to run are located within its directory structure. OBS has many features which makes its requirements more complex. As @koala noted, the installer takes care of all the details for you.

I also only use the installer...I think the ZIP files are made for people with slow connections and a zip downloads faster..

You can run a "self contained" OBS using portable mode. This is a reason for the zip.

The problem with portable mode is recreating all the file paths if you use it on a different computer..
I have OBS on two computers but not portable mode..

Hi, sorry for my english. I've found that zip version takes some user APP DATA and I do not know why. A real portable zip version, I think, only shoud read the obs folder where was unzipeed. I had to be very carefull to see what I do in the zipped version because it impact in the installed version (for example all the audio clips in the soundboard plugin were deleted).
