Question / Help Input Audio not reaching stream?

Hello, I'm having a peculiar problem. I hear a faint 'static' noise on the stream. But the stream it's self is not picking up any of my audio. However..

WA9Hwff-gpZMMkor1M0qG_LFmx_cSFv3oRVuWDKbNBc

In the screenshot, whenever I speak the audio bars respond to my spekaing- at least showing the program can tell when there's a sudden change in audio. However, the outpiut on the stream shows NO sound whats so ever coming from me. I do happen to have things like say- skype and or Teamspeak 3 in the background. Skype is never in a call. But teamspeak is in use. I Know the microphone is functional, and the audio settings should be setup, tot he correct devices. Similarlly to what is used to TS3 setup/etc.

I do not know why, but I would really like to resolve this little problem.

I'm typically well versed on these problem solving things. I'm clueless. -

I removed the video source plugin- and it seemed to have fixed the problem. But It was working while I sitll had it. I would sitll like to investigate the problem further to see if maybe there was another reason or cause for this?

The problem has returned. Seems to have died somewhere during my streaming session. Unsure of what is happening and why.. Still, OBS's management/preview window acknowledge that there is sound. But does not send it? I'm not sure whats going on here. :| I've tried fiddling around with various settings with no luck.

So the audio levels are registering, but nothing is coming through? Could you output to file only and verify that this behavior is occurring there as well? Your log also reports no audio issues or lost audio data

Nope, no sound at all, the most I get is,

http://dev.katoweb.org/Atest.mp4

Which is a barely audible sound. Now, I'm not sure if windows- or some other program is altering the audio levels. But forother applications it seems functional. Especially since I know this microphone has problems. So that is no surprise. However, I am still able to use VoIP to communicate, and occasionally sound seems to cut out- it has worked previously as reported on the stream early this morning during some tests.

It just seems strange that it would be the hardware (Microphone) If it is still functional. For information on said microphone is not usb, and it is well over 13 years old. Just inputs audio. does a decent job.

Edit:

This is also not a problem: (In the rare case it gets brought up, I've checked.)

Also I don't know if this will matter:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/egifh8efgfp5c ... .03.29.png

One thing I did notice was, I made a lot of noise. now I can 'BARELY' hear the noise. But ti seems the input being recorded is being recorded at a ridiculusly low volume possibly? It reacts to it. Now sometimes the volume is fine. And.. for audio lvels It should be well more than needed by system standards to function. I'll prob try a few other things.

I watched the MP4 and I was able to hear you just fine...

Have you tried adding a microphone boost in OBS?

I do not hear anything from it. However When listening myself from another person's stream. I do hear myself just fine. So I would like to think my headphones a culprit. Being that One driver in the headphone IS bad, and dead. But it still doesn't quite explain why I don't pick it up. I did not see a microphone boost gain, but I will make another try at it, and see what happens.

Edit:

Using another Media player like VLC, I managed to get some sound in the file output. But it is definitely super quiet, which supports my previous post? Why is it so quiet? When it is already boosted by windows- or should be considerably.. At the same time, the boosted playback is still very quiet. So How loud is it? Or how quiet is it really? I'm not sure.

Also lifting my audio settings in VLC made things a bit better. Since I naturally run with it's volume slider low.. Perhaps I forgot something important and now this is being silly. But still I can't seem to hear myself in the stream with volume slider all the way over max. Will test again.

Edit 2: Looks Like In VLC, I can hear it just fine. but noy my default video player. Also I noticed that I sound better- and much different in Atest2, than Atest. Not that it was important, But I'll test on the stream again with micboost and see if that improves it.

Edit 3: Putting microphone into mono, forcing it. that is. Seems to have solved most of my problems. Perhaps the problem is with my headphones not dealing with stereo well. They tend to be handled pretty well on other media playuers. And it's possible the chosen/codec that Twithc uses isn't friendly with my headphones. Which is strange that I've no other problems but with myself.

It seems to have resolved it's self.. In a way, I was sort of ignorant of a few factors. This microphone prob doesn't have stereo support anyway. Being like from 1995-1998. So it's pretty old. I think replacing my headphones would likely resolve this issue. And I apologize if tha tis the case- for it has been a mess.

I was not able to get a clear answer from anyone else. So being the sole person sorting through the problem.. is difficult. Thanks, and I'll check back if anything comes up. Or any responses are made.

Most microphones don't support stereo, and are mono-only. Maybe you had plugged your mic into your Line-In input instead of the Mic input? Line-In is stereo, while Mic inputs are mono.

Then again, it seemed to work in some players but not others, and it worked fine for me, so that does point to a problem just with your PC in some way. I'm glad you got it figured out, and sorry that we weren't able to help more.

I appreciate it. Computer is brand new.. But most of everything else. Keyboard, and mouse, headphones, and microphone are old. Just means I need that replacement. I appreciated the input and it helped me wonders. So thanks.
