Incorporating an image into an audio recording

I would like to incorporate an image with an audio recording. My mom wants to begin a memoir. I am new. I have been able to upload images to sources, but they do not show up in the recording playback. Thanks.

You mean, record a *video* that has a static image and a soundtrack?

One way of achieving this with OBS is to use the Slideshow function within OBS. Using the Slidesow function you can build a slideshow out of static images. Run the slideshow and record the voice over whilst using the record function. The slideshow function is limited and in no way will you be able to incorporate a lifetimes worth of images. Using this approach you will inevitably end up with multiple (shortish) video files which you will need a proper video editor (Davinci is a free editor, but there are other video tools) to build a file representing a lifetimes memoirs. I would suggest that OBS has some limitations when doing what you want as it is primarily intended as a broadcasting tool. Many video editors will allow you more flexibility to build a slideshow (PowerDirector is a lowish cost editor) and are probably better tools for what you want to achieve.

If that's what you want to end up with, then I agree with John. If you're not broadcasting live, and you don't need tight A/V sync, then OBS is probably not the right tool.

Shotcut is a free, open source, cross-platform video editor for Windows, Mac and Linux

Unlike some other popular ones, it's free and full-featured forever (open source, like OBS is), and does a LOT! But I still think it's easy enough to get started with and grow into.

Record your audio by itself, probably with Audacity (also free and open source):

Then import both that and your picture(s) into your favorite video editor, build the video in there, and export. OBS is not involved in any of that.
