Question / Help Inconsistent webcam black screen problem

Greetings all.

I have a problem with OBS where my webcam (Microsoft LifeCam Studio) only works sometimes.
Detailed problem description:
The webcam starts and shows that it's working but in OBS its just a black screen.
Skype works at all times without errors so it's not the webcam
It works sometimes but if i change anything, like adding a scene beneath it or change any settings it goes black again. Even stopping the preview and starting it again makes the cam go black (it still says it's working).
After a restart of OBS it works until you make any change or restart preview.

P.S. I currently use OBS to record videos so I don't have streaming settings (higher quality etc) and the webcam is scaled down to (424x240)

I have this same problem with the Lifecam Studio in OBS Studio. So far, the only workaround I've come up with is to:
1) Open OBS Studio and change the Lifecam properties to "Default Resolution".
2) Close OBS Studio
3) Re-open OBS Studio - the camera shows up every time.
4) Reset the Lifecam resolution to the desired custom resolution.

As long as OBS executes with the Lifecam resolution set to "default", it works the majority of the time. If I select any resolution except default, the camera only works for the session in which I first add the cam.
