Question / Help Inconsistent ping

Exynos

Hi,

I'm not new to streaming, but after moving my ping has started getting very high while streaming. My upload speed is 2mbs and bitrate for stream is set at 1500. I have left plenty left for other tasks, but still I get extremely annoying spikes, where my ping jumps to 200ish and settles down to a solid 100.

I have CBR on without padding enabled, haven't touched custom buffer size.

Is there any specific settings I might need to take look at?

Thanks in advance!

1500 is for video most likely, and does not count your audio bitrate.

Many multiplayer games will have a problem if over half of the connection is in use; 2/3 of the connection is the recommended max for singleplayer offline games, and half is the rule of thumb for any online multiplayer. Network variance, bad routing, and reduced throughput can all cause your connection to suffer, despite what a speed test may say; they test one type of connection, and it's not the kind that livestreaming uses.

You can try turning on 'minimize network impact', but streaming absolutely will have an effect on your in-game ping, especially running the bitrate at a significant portion of the total theoretical throughput, as you are.
