Incompatible with MOTU??

OBS does not want to see the output of my MOTU 896mkIII as an audio object. I'm on OS 10.13.6 on a 2010 MacPro 5,1 12-core 3.33GHz w/ 64GB RAM.

The MOTU is seen just fine by the OS, and can be seen and used in Zoom, Wirecast, etc. just fine.

What am I missing here?

Same problem on Windows. I fixed it for a night by enabling WaveRT in the MOTU Audio Console. That was a couple days ago. It worked all night long. Then I closed OBS and today I opened OBS and it's once again not hearing the MOTU. I spent an hour troubleshooting, instead of streaming.
